HEALTHY LIFE EXPECTANCIES IN SPAIN 1986-2007 |
Descripción: |
The continuous rise in life expectancy which has been observed over recent decades mainly in the developed countries, has major health and social consequences as a result of the relative increase in the number of elderly and aging people and the predominating chronic diseases and disability in the morbidity pattern. The question which must be posed today is whether the continuing improvement in the risk of mortality which has been recorded is going hand in hand with the populations increasing degree of health To answer this question, it is necessary for indicators such as healthy life expectancy to be used, this being a diverse set of indicators taking into account not only the populations experiencing mortality, but also the experiencing of morbidity or disability. |
